Who says you can’t have a spa experience every morning if you wanted to? 

This fresh, simple smoothie recipe can turn your blender and kitchen into a portal that transports you to a luxury spa or resort. 

It’s an excellent way to start your day because this smoothie is nutrient-dense, high in quality fats that keep you full for hours without crashing your blood sugar, and it also contains important fiber, vitamins, and minerals that help keep your gut healthy and your skin radiant. 

 

You may have heard of the phrase ‘how you do one thing is how you do everything.’

The choice to make this smoothie is no different. 

How you choose to begin your day really matters. 

Something as simple as taking a few minutes to prep and consume this smoothie can set the tone for your entire day and be an act of self-love and self-nurturing.

You can’t always escape life and make it to the spa but you can certainly take small steps like this one to bring the spa to you by transforming aspects of your home and immediate environment to reflect that calm, serene, and regenerating energy whenever you need it. 

 

Spa Smoothie recipe: 

Ingredients (makes approximately 2 servings) 

Note: If possible, all items should be organic

  • 1 slice of fresh pineapple, about 1-inch thick 
  • ½ cucumber
  • 2 celery stalks 
  • Fresh ginger root (about 2-inches long) 
  • 1 generous handful of fresh mint leaves 
  • The fresh juice of ½ lemon (or more if you prefer) 
  • 2 scoops of your preferred unflavored collagen peptides 
  • 1 tbsp MCT oil
  • ½ a small avocado 
  • 250 ml of water

 

Place the pineapple, cucumber, celery, ginger root, mint, and lemon in the blend with the water and blend until smooth. 

 

Add the collagen peptides, MCT oil, and avocado and blend on low until smooth. 

 

Optional: ice to your liking

Mindfulness is the ancient Buddhist and Yogic practice of paying attention to what is happening in the moment. 

Meditation teacher and author Jon Kabat-Zinn defines it as: 

Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”

It means engaging all of your senses to drop into what is happening around you and in your body. 

 

The smoothie can be a tool to engage all of your senses. 

How does it taste? 

Can you take a sip and fully take in the different flavors merging together? 

The smell of it?

The way it feels as you hold the glass in your hand? 

The sensation of it going down your throat? 

Can you appreciate the color and depth? 

Can you tap into the vital energy (prana) being offered to you in that glass? 

The amount of sunshine, soil, and air that made this smoothie possible?
